NYS Bar sets schedule for new CLE courses

The New York State Bar Association is offering several Continuing Legal Education programs in the area during November. They offer attendees an opportunity to earn credits, as well as discount admission for members of the Bar and law students.

Representing Entrepreneurial Businesses: Fundamental Litigation and Corporate Issues

This Web-based course will explore the business lawyer's role as an adviser to business owners. It will highlight the environment of the entrepreneur to allow lawyers to go beyond problem-spotting and into problem-solving mode. It also explores the "business answer" and "legal answer" to come up with the best solutions for clients.

Credits: 4.0 MCLE credits (2.0 Professional Practice/Practice Management, 2.0 Skills)

Tax Aspects of Real Property Transactions

This program is designed to provide real estate practitioners with a fundamental overview of some of the most common federal and state tax implications of their transactions, enabling them to discuss these issues with their clients and to participate with clients' accountants and tax professionals.

Basics of Civil Practice - The Trial

This seminar will discuss basic trial techniques for civil litigation. Topics include all phases of the trial, from jury selection to summations. It also will feature strategies for direct and cross examinations, as well as tips on technical aspects of civil trials, including making objections and motions during trial. The panel of speakers will share tips on trial tactics.

Successfully Handling Custody and Vocational Expert Witnesses

A practice-oriented program focusing on recommended strategies and tips in the preparation and examination of two key expert witnesses in matrimonial litigation: the custody expert and the vocational expert. The program also features a review of the latest cases and trends in matrimonial law, with discussion of how 2010's major family law legislation is affecting the current practice of matrimonial lawyers.
