The Buffalo City Mission is hoping to raise $1.9 million during its annual campaign, a $100,000 increase from last year.
The "One Mission, One Hope" fall campaign will provide funding to sustain programs and services.
Last year, the nonprofit agency provided nearly 150,000 meals and nearly 80,000 beds for the poor and homeless, with additional services for food and clothing provided to another 2,121 families.
Stuart Harper, executive director, said early indications say this year the needs will be even greater.
"With 12 weeks remaining in 2011, we'll no doubt surpass that level," he said. "With an uncertain economy, we're preparing ourselves for a very busy year."
The campaign, which runs through the end of December, typically raises about 35 of the agency's annual operating budget.
