Twenty bucks could save a life ... maybe your own

Thu, Oct 6th 2011 12:00 am
It would be difficult to travel anywhere in Western New York and not realize that it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

From the field at Ralph Wilson Stadium, to office buildings, schools, town halls and everywhere in between, Western New Yorkers are donning pink to show their support for a disease that was diagnosed in more than 200,000 women in the United States last year alone.

This Saturday, you have the chance to be part of an international effort to raise awareness (and funds) to combat this deadly disease.

The Hard Rock Cafe Niagara Falls is celebrating "Pinktober" with its Living Ribbon Event.

The evening begins at 5:30 pm with registration and a chance to visit the Hard Rock Cafe traveling memorabilia bus. Visitors will get the chance to see up close and personal some of the best rock-and-roll memorabilia in the Hard rock collection.

At 7 pm participants will assemble on the Rainbow Bridge where supporters from the United States and Canada will form an international living ribbon.

After the ceremony you can make your way to Old Falls St. for a free outdoor concert featuring Alison Pipitone and K-Ride opening for Former Barenaked Ladies frontman Steven Page.

The concert is free to the public and the cost to register to be park of the Living Ribbon and support the Breast Cancer initiative is $20. Each registrant will receive a t-shirt and a gift bag and 100 registrants will be moved to the front of the stage for the concert.
