As part of his effort to crack down on corruption and restore the public's trust in government, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman appointed Rose McMorrow of Buffalo as public integrity officer to serve in the attorney general's Buffalo regional office. She will be charged with giving taxpayers a place to go to report complaints of government corruption without fear of local politics influencing the outcome.
As part of Schneiderman's plan to restore confidence in the public sector, he is placing public integrity officers in all the regional offices across the state to police local government corruption. The appointment reflect a renewed commitment of time and energy in the regional office devoted to public integrity matters and formally links the regional office to the attorney general's central Public Integrity Bureau.
McMorrow, the fourth such officer to be appointed by Schneiderman in New York, has served as an assistant attorney general at the AG's office since October 2007, handling cases in the Sex Offender Management Bureau.
She previously served for five years as an assistant district attorney in Erie County, prosecuting public corruption and white-collar criminal cases.
In addition to Buffalo, the attorney general has regional offices outside of New York City in Binghamton, Long Island, Plattsburgh, Poughkeepsie, Rochester, Syracuse, Utica, Watertown and Westchester.
Western New Yorkers who know of or suspect cases involving government corruption are urged to contact McMorrow at the Buffalo regional office at 853-8400.
