As many as 500 job-seekers are expected to attend a job fair in Lockport this week.
The event, sponsored by the Niagara County Employment & Training Department, is slated for 9 a.m. to noon, June 1 at the Lockport Holiday Inn on South Transit Road. It is free and open to the public.
Planners said the success of a large job fair in April in Niagara Falls spurred them to schedule a second, this time in eastern Niagara County. Approximately 50 employers have signed up to participate.
"We're anticipating 400 to 500 people will walk through the doors," said Thomas Jaccarino, department director. "In the past, it proved successful, with people getting positions based on their participation in the job fair, so we're hoping that people come out, meet the businesses and put their best foot forward."
Employer participants include health-care providers, collections firms, mortgage bankers, casinos, manufacturers and service-sector firms.
