Freed Maxick & Battaglia CPAs PC is expanding its Freed Maxick Healthcare division by hiring a health-care revenue cycle specialist based in Syracuse.

The Buffalo firm announced May 10 that it hired Dorothy DiCarlo-Rhoads to help grow the division. She previously worked as director of professional services for MedAssets in Saddle River, N.J. Prior to that, she was director of patient financial services at Schuyler Hospital in Montour Falls, N.Y.

"The healthcare industry is an area we expect heavy growth for our firm and we are working consistently to identify new ways and means to serve our clients," division Director Lloyd Arakelian said in a release. "Dorothy will play a key role in that end."

The firm's health-care division works with various health-care systems including urban and rural community hospitals, academic medical centers, specialty hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and physician practices.

Freed Maxick is the largest accounting firm in the region. It operates three offices, including its Buffalo headquarters, and employs approximately 250 people.
