Six indicted in pair of Rochester cold case murders

Mon, Mar 7th 2011 12:00 am
ROCHESTER (AP) - Federal authorities have indicted six Rochester-area residents in connection with a pair of slayings from the late 1990s, including the killing of a man whose body was never found.

The indictment unsealed March 2 in Rochester charges 35-year-old Pablo Plaza and 36-year-old James Kendrick with being involved in the October 1998 kidnapping and killing of Francisco Santos and the 1999 slaying of Ryan Cooper, a cousin of the two defendants.

Cooper's body hasn't been found. Santos' body was found buried on a western New York Indian reservation.

Four other individuals are also charged with being involved in the Santos slaying.

Kendrick remains jailed after being charged last year in the slaying of a Rochester city school bus driver. His lawyer says there's no evidence linking him to the slaying.

It wasn't known if Plaza had a lawyer.
