A recently developed not-for-profit called nxtArrow is looking for a few good startups and hopes to find them in Buffalo.

The organization, which recently signed a lease in downtown's Electric Tower building, targets startup companies and entrepreneurs. Using its own network, nxtArrow wants to work with local entrepreneurs who have sufficient startup funds or emerging companies that, while adequately funded, have an interest in locating here. The not-for-profit will provide one year of free rent and other business services in the Electric Tower.

"Through nxtArrow, we strive to return the city back to its glory days by offering companies the resources they need to begin doing business in our area," said John Howell, nxtArrow president and CEO.

It has landed its first two clients, he said: Work Smart eBusiness Solutions, a virtual office support company that's moving from Boston, and Fineprintfinders LLC of Flint, Mich. WorkSmart offers technology consulting and work system development for companies, while Fineprintfinders has developed software to help people interpret legal and financial fine print and typical consumer contracts.

Both are slated to be in the nxtArrow space this spring.

"Relocating to Western New York from Michigan suited our company's character and brand," said Marcus Sharp, Fineprintfinders chairman and CEO.
