An M&T Bank branch in Lackawanna is slated for closure next year.

The bank notified the state Banking Department this month that it plans to shutter the office at 2731 South Park Ave. on March. Accounts at the South Avenue site will shift 1.3 miles away to the 490 Dorrance Ave. branch, a bank spokesperson said.

The three employees at the site will be offered other jobs with M&T, the spokesperson said.

The decision to close the branch is based on customer usage. The spokesperson said most customers in the area use the Dorrance Avenue branch or the Lake Avenue branch in Blasdell.
