Less than two weeks after receiving an abatement package from the Erie County Industrial Development Agency, an affiliate of Western New York Care bought the Buffalo building where it will open its first urgent-care center in the city.
2497 Delaware Holdings LLC paid $585,000 for the former Gallagher Printing building at 2497 Delaware Ave., according to documents filed in the Erie County Clerk's Office. Gallagher Printing is moving to Clarence.
During a Nov. 8 ECIDA hearing, representatives of Western New York Immediate Care said they plan to demolish the building and replace it with a 7,400-square-foot facility for urgent care. The center will employ 28 people.
Bringing it to North Buffalo may help alleviate strain being felt by emergency rooms, officials said. Kenmore Mercy Hospital, located 10 minutes away, handled 28,000 emergency-room patients last year while Sister Hospital had 32,000 and Women & Children's Hospital had 47,000 ER visits.
The demolition and subsequent construction will start later this winter, with an opening set for next fall.
