Suspect in double-murder shot and killed

Thu, Oct 14th 2010 12:00 am
BUFFALO (AP) - Buffalo cold case detectives say they were closing in on a suspect in a nine-year-old double-slaying when the man was fatally shot last month.

The Buffalo News reported that police had been trying for several months to find 47-year-old Stanley Peete when he was gunned down behind the wheel of a sport utility vehicle.

He was wanted in the killings of his fiancee and his daughter, 27-year-old Tomika Williams and 15-year-old Chuatuaqua Peete.

Both were shot in the back of the head in 2001. Police say the motive was apparently the end of the couple's relationship and a dispute over child-support payments. Officials didn't know of the breakup at the time of the initial investigation.
