BRIEFS: Harter Secrest nationally ranked

Its annual survey of mid-level attorneys examined 12 areas that contribute to job satisfaction, including relations with partners and associates and training and guidance received at the firm. Harter Secrest has finished in the top 10 in the survey five out of the last six years.

Jaeckle attorney to present on Oct. 1
Heath Szymczak, an attorney with Jaeckle Fleischmann & Mugel LLP, will discuss "Legal Procedures and Their Impact on the Claims Process" at the Law School for Insurance Professionals. The program is scheduled for Oct. 1 at the Holiday Inn, 1881 Niagara Falls Blvd., Amherst. He is a partner and administrator of the firm's litigation practice group. More ‘Super Lawyers'
Two area firms recently announced their inclusion in the 2010 New York Super Lawyers, Upstate edition.
Eight attorneys from Magavern Magavern Grimm LLP were named to the list: William Magavern II and Thomas Schofield, business/corporate; James Magavern, government/cities/municipalities; Edward Markarian, appellate; Richard Moore, business litigation; Bruce Reinoso, elder law; and Laurence Woodward, estate planning and probate.
Seven attorneys from Harter Secrest & Emery LLP also were named in the publication. They are: John Horn and Kenneth Africano, business litigation; Thomas Hurley and Samuel Palisano, employee benefits/ERISA; Anthony Mancinelli, business/corporate; Craig Slater, environmental; and Robert Weissflach, employment litigation/defense.
Lawley, Great Lakes unite
Lawley Insurance is expanding its loss control services with a strategic alliance with Great Lakes Environmental and Safety Consultants Inc.
As a result, customers will benefit from a larger menu of safety and environmental services, expanding Lawley's loss control/prevention capabilities. The firm also said it will provide increased responsiveness for regular and emergency needs. Great Lakes, established in 1994, offers proactive safety, environmental and risk-management solutions. Lawley's risk management department has delivered loss analysis, loss control and claims management to customers for 12 years and said it expects the additional services from Great Lakes Environmental to more fully meet clients' needs.
M&T Insurance honored
M&T Insurance Agency Inc. of Buffalo was among 17 agencies to be recognized by the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America as "Best Practices" agencies. It was one of hundreds of member firms that participated in a Best Practices study, conducted by the IIABA and Reagan Consulting. The program is aimed at providing performance benchmarks and business strategies that member agencies can adopt to improve performance.
