Man convicted for threatening witness

Mon, Aug 2nd 2010 12:00 am
Chad Koschuk, 40, of Alden was convicted after a jury trial of threatening to retaliate against a witness in the related racketeering case against his father, Alex Koschtschuk.

Following the return of the verdict, Chief District Court Chief Judge William Skretny remanded Koschuk to the custody of the U.S. Marshals and set sentencing for Nov. 2. He faces approximately 4 1/2 years in jail under the federal sentencing guidelines.

U.S. Attorneys Anthony Bruce and Russell Ippolito, who handled the trial, stated that the defendant had been accused of threatening to forcibly sodomize the witness because the witness had provided information to the FBI about his father and testified before the Grand Jury.

This occurred during a chance meeting Sept. 11 at a convenience food store in Alden.
