An Amherst plastic surgeon has been disciplined by the New York State Board for Professional Medical Conduct.
Dr. Jeffrey Meilman, a board-certified plastic surgeon in the region for more than 25 years, agreed to pay a $5,000 fine related to a charge of professional misconduct.
According to papers filed with the state Department of Health, Meilman dispensed controlled substances to patients between 2005 and 2007 that were not contained in properly labeled containers. He also was charged with dispensing drugs without electronically submitting dispensing information to the Department of Health; failing to produce documentation or an inventory of the drugs or patient medical records; and failing to maintain a biennial inventory of drugs between 2004 and 2007.
Meilman did not contest the charges, and agreed to the fine and the condition that he remain in continuous compliance of all state-law requirements.
