The City of Buffalo accounts for 30 percent of Erie County's population, yet was responsible for less than 12 percent of the county's high-end real estate deals this year, according to figures compiled by Business First.

There were 407 transactions worth $150,000 or more within the city from Oct. 1, 2008, to Sept. 30, 2009.The countywide total of $150,000-plus transactions was 3,520.

Buffalo's high-end deals included 19 worth $1 million or more, 34 between $500,000 and $999,999, 138 from $250,000 to $499,999, and 216 between $150,000 and $249,999.

Buffalo's estimated population as of Sept. 30, 2009, was 267,989, which was 29.7 percent of Erie County's population of 902,346.

A complete listing of those deals can be found in Business First's Dec. 25 issue or online at buffalo.bizjournals.com/buffalo/blog/the_score/2009/12/buffalos_top_real_estate_transactions.html.
