Driver with many previous suspensions charged again

Mon, Dec 28th 2009 12:00 am
SYRACUSE (AP) - State police say a Syracuse-area man with 29 driver's-license suspensions or revocations led troopers on a short chase on the Thruway because he didn't want to spend Christmas in jail.

Troopers say Justin Boyson of North Syracuse was spotted driving without a seat belt Saturday on westbound Interstate 90 outside Syracuse. When troopers tried to pull him over, he sped off before stopping near the toll booth at Exit 37.

Police say the 32-year-old Boyson told troopers he has a felony aggravated-unlicensed-operation case pending and didn't want to spend Christmas in jail.

He was charged with a variety of vehicle and traffic offenses, as well as drug and weapon possession.

Boyson was being held in jail Dec. 21 on $5,000 bail.
