Hudson Falls justice censured after having motorist arrested

Thu, Dec 3rd 2009 12:00 am
ALBANY (AP) - A village justice in northern New York has been censured for misconduct after he confronted a motorist, flashed a badge identifying himself as a justice and used his influence to have the person arrested.

The New York state Commission on Judicial Conduct announced the censure of Hudson Falls Village Justice Michael Feeder Wednesday.

Feeder's attorney says he's looking forward to staying on the bench.

The commission also found that Feeder decided against sentencing a defendant to jail after having an out-of-court conversation with the person's mother.

Feeder also presided over cases filed by members of the village police without disclosing his close friendship with the assistant chief of police - who personally appeared before the judge in at least one case.
