Area village records first homicide in 2 decades

Mon, Nov 30th 2009 12:00 am
MOUNT MORRIS (AP) - Authorities say a western New York man who walked into a Rochester hospital with bloodied clothing has been charged with killing his girlfriend.

Officials say 50-year-old Agustin Lebron-Morales of Mount Morris entered a building at Highland Hospital Monday afternoon and asked for help contacting police.

Earlier in the day, police found the body of 40-year-old Sonia Valera inside the home she and Lebron-Morales shared in Mount Morris, 33 miles south of Rochester. It was the village's first homicide in more than 20 years.

Authorities say Valera had been stabbed during an argument.

Police say Lebron-Morales has pleaded innocent to a second-degree murder charge. He's being held without bail Tuesday in the Livingston County Jail and is due back in court Friday.
