Soldier, husband plead guilty to sexual abuse of 2 children

Thu, Oct 29th 2009 12:00 am
SYRACUSE (AP) - A Fort Drum soldier and her husband have admitted sexually abusing an 8-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl under a federal plea deal that could land them in prison for life.

Prosecutors said Friday that 27-year-old Pfc. Amanda Jansen and 28-year-old Christopher Jansen pleaded guilty to conspiring to transport minors across state lines for sex and two counts of aggravated sexual abuse.

The couple traveled to Kentucky in June 2008 and brought four children, including a 13-year-old and a 3-year-old, to Watertown in Upstate New York for a summer visit. They admitted drugging and sexually abusing two of them.

At sentencing Feb. 19, Amanda Jansen will draw at least 30 years in prison. Her husband faces a mandatory life sentence.
