A Delaware Avenue mansion that has long since been converted into private offices has been sold, adding to speculation about its future use.

Buffalo attorney Jerry Forton and CPA David D'Arata sold the mansion, located at 1230 Delaware near Canisius High School, for $700,000, according to documents filed in the Erie County Clerk's Office. The buyer was listed as 1230 Delaware Avenue LLC.

A confidentiality agreement that was part of the sale prevents disclosure of the identity of 1230 Delaware Avenue LLC partners or their plans for the site.

The 7,000-square-foot house was constructed in the mid-1930s, and by the 1960s had been renovated into office space. It has been home to several law practices or CPA firms.

Forton and D'Arata maintained offices in the building, but both have moved their offices to other Delaware Avenue locations.

Forton is assistant coach of the University of Massachusetts at Lowell men's hockey team. In the off season, he returns to Buffalo, where he maintains a small legal practice.
