Buffalo detective admits giving info to biker gang

Mon, Aug 31st 2009 12:00 am
BUFFALO (AP) - A police detective faces up to a year in jail after admitting she gave information on a Buffalo-area motorcycle club to a rival gang.

Town of Hamburg Detective Laurie Staley-Stone pleaded guilty Wednesday afternoon to a federal charge of illegally distributing police information.

Prosecutors say she used her access to police networks to obtain information on the Kingsmen and then passed it on to their rivals, the Chosen Few.

In May, 20 members and associates of the Chosen Few were arrested and charged with planning attacks against the Kingsmen.

The 45-year-old Staley-Stone also faces a fine of $100,000 when she's sentenced in November. Under a plea agreement, she'll retire from the department and keep her pension.

She had no comment after leaving court with her attorney.
