$6.3M Hamburg property to be sold at auction

Two Town of Hamburg residences that were collectively sold last fall for $6.3 million and were recently the subject of an FBI raid are headed for a court-imposed foreclosure sale.

The homes, listed at 6553 Boston State Road and 6523 Boston State Road, respectively, were acquired last year by Phantom One Holdings LLC, an entity headed by Cleveland-based hedge-fund trader Michael Wilson.

Wilson was 21 when he bought the homes last November from Greenacres Inc. and local businessman John Russo. Russo once owned Sorrento Cheese Co.

Erie County Judge Hon. Michael D'Amico set separate foreclosure auctions for Sept. 1, to be held at 9:45 a.m. and 10 a.m. The auctions will take place in Erie County Hall's foreclosure alcove.

According to court documents, Phantom One Holdings LLC - along with Wilson and lien holder Nest Interiors Commercial Residential LLC dba Nest Interiors, as well an unspecified "John and Jane Doe" - are listed as the defendants in the action.

Wilson & Phantom One owe more than $4 million to Green Acres and Russo. Nest Interiors, a Delaware Avenue design firm, has filed mechanic's liens against Wilson and Phantom One totalling nearly $95,000.

Lawyers Anthony Colucci Jr. and Kenneth Case were appointed referees in the case, while Bruce Zeftel is representing both Russo and Greenacres, a company affiliated with the Russo family.

The sale of the homes marked the highest price ever recorded for a residence in Erie County, and the deal was the talk of the area real estate community last year.

Wilson's identity was a mystery for months, however, revealed only after the FBI raided the homes July 1, seizing records and documents from the residence. Wilson to date has not been charged.

The house at 6553 Boston State Road, which was constructed in 1992, counts more than 15,550 square feet while its companion home, erected three years later, has nearly 15,000 square feet. Both come with a multitude of bedrooms and such amenities as indoor pools and in-home theaters.
