State police investigator faces charges, suspension

Mon, Aug 3rd 2009 12:00 am
BUFFALO (AP) - A state police investigator assigned to a counterterrorism unit in Buffalo has been charged with aggravated harassment and official misconduct for actions involving two Canadians.

State police say Investigator James Talford was also charged Wednesday with attempted falsifying of business records. The New York State Troopers say he has been suspended without pay.

Authorities say the charges stem from Talford's conduct toward two people from the Niagara Falls area in Ontario.

Details of the incident weren't immediately available from state police. It was not known at press time whether Talford has a lawyer.

Police say Talford, a 21-year veteran of the agency, is due to appear to Buffalo City Court on Aug. 12.
