Retired state judge Thomas McMahon dead at 83

Retired New York State Court of Claims judge Hon. Thomas McMahon died May 25. He was 83.

McMahon was a graduate of Canisius College and the University at Buffalo Law School. Admitted to the bar in 1951, he was a longtime partner in the McMahon and Crotty law firm. Named to the Court of Claims in 1981, he held that post for 14 years before retiring in 1995.

He is survived by his wife, the former Ann Healy; three sons, Thomas  Jr., Michael and Andrew; one brother, the Rev. Gerald McMahon; one sister, Eileen Gormley; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. McMahon was predeceased by one brother, Andrew; two sisters, Margaret Crotty and Ruth Soucie; and one grandson, Thomas.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday at St. Michael's Church in Buffalo. Funeral arrangements were handled through Reddington Funeral Home.
