The New York State Fourth Departmental Judicial Screening Committee is seeking applicants to fill the vacancy in the eighth judicial district following the resignation of New York State Supreme Court Justice Hon. Joseph Makowski last month. The position will be on an interim basis, with a permanent replacement being determined through a November election.

Interested applicants must be: residents of New York State; have been admitted to practice law in New York State for at least 10 years; and be attorneys in good standing. Applications may be obtained by going to: ny.gov/governor/judicial and must be received by the close of business on March 19.
