Trial resumes for woman accused in 2 poisonings

Mon, Feb 2nd 2009 12:00 am
SYRACUSE (AP) - The trial is continuing for a Central New York woman accused of killing her husband with antifreeze and then attempting to kill her daughter.

Prosecutors in Syracuse expect to call their final witnesses today in the trial of 41-year-old Stacey Castor of Clay.

Defense lawyers will then present their case. Jurors could get the case by the end of the week.

Castor is charged with killing her husband, David, in August 2005. She's also accused of trying to kill her daughter, Ashley Wallace, now 21, with an overdose of drugs and alcohol in September 2007.

Prosecutors contend that Castor concocted a suicide scenario to frame her daughter for David Castor's death and the death of Stacey Castor's first husband, Michael Wallace, in 2000. Stacey Castor hasn't been charged with his death.
