Former GOP leader coming to Clarence for book signing

Mon, Nov 10th 2008 12:00 am
Richard Rosenbaum, a former chair of the state Republican party, will be in Buffalo Wednesday to sign copies of his memoir, "No Room For Democracy: The Triumph of Ego Over Common Sense." Published this year by RIT Press, the book traces his life as a Jewish boy suffering from alopecia to Gov. Nelson Rockefeller's right-hand man.

Rep. Tom Reynolds, R-Clarence, will introduce Rosenbaum, who's now senior counsel at Nixon Peabody LLP's Rochester office, at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Barnes and Noble Booksellers, 4401 Transit Road, Clarence.

The book features a foreword by Henry Kissinger.

The memoir tells the story behind a $35,000 mink-lined bed that Rockefeller had installed in the vice president's residence, as well as Rosenbaum's behind-the-scenes campaign to deny Ronald Reagan the GOP presidential nomination in 1976.

"Dick Rosenbaum has lived many lives in a career of politics, public service and law," Reynolds said in a statement provided by Nixon Peabody. "He has more stories, experience and insight on the tip of his tongue than three men combined."
