NYC man accused of running illegal asbestos-testing outfit

Thu, Oct 30th 2008 12:00 am
NEW YORK (AP) - A suburban New York City company is accused of illegally representing itself as certified and licensed to perform asbestos testing.

Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore said Monday that Dominic Perruccio, the owner of Earth Research Laboratories of Peekskill, has been arraigned on a charge of scheme to defraud.

Asbestos testing is strictly regulated by New York state. DiFiore says the company's state certification was suspended in March 2007 for various infractions. Perruccio allegedly continued to claim that his company was licensed between March 2007 and October 2008.

He is due back in court Monday. He faces up to four years in prison, if convicted.
