HOME expanding program through $300K Oishei grant

Thu, Jul 3rd 2008 12:00 am
A new $300,000 grant will enable a local housing organization to expand a mobility program.

Housing Opportunities Made Equal received the $300,000 grant from the John R. Oishei Foundation. The funds support HOME's Greater Buffalo Community Housing Center, a program that helps families lease housing.

The nonprofit agency promotes civil rights and fair housing.

HOME will use the funds to hire a social worker to handle case management at the nine-year-old program, giving it the opportunity to double the number of families served. Clients also receive help enrolling children in school, facilitating GED preparation and assisting with job training and moving toward economic self-sufficiency.
