Trooper fired after fatal crash
Erik Kristansen, a late 2006 academy graduate, was on routine probation at the time, police spokesman Sgt. Kern Swoboda said.
He was responding to a call Oct. 14 to assist a Wayne County sheriff's deputy who had stopped a vehicle in Sodus believed to be involved in a robbery.
Authorities say the trooper's lights and siren were activated. Kristansen drove up to 127 mph, came on the car driven by Shonda Skinner, 30, of North Rose, skidded and hit the car at 83 mph.
A grand jury cleared Kristansen of criminal wrongdoing.
Her family plans to sue.
