ALBANY (AP) - Gov. Eliot Spitzer has nominated Carmen Beauchamp Ciparick to continue serving on the state Court of Appeals after her current term expires at the end of the year.
Ciparick has been a judge for nearly 30 years.
Then-Gov. Mario Cuomo nominated her in 1993 to serve as an associate judge on the court. She was confirmed by the state Senate in 1994 and has served ever since.
Ciparick was born in New York City. She graduated from Hunter College and received her law degree from St. John's University School of Law.
The nomination is subject to the approval of the Senate.
